Material that's completely fan created is fine.
The LR Games material covered by NDA is strictly off limits, and Joe is probably legally required to delete any posts that reveal part of that material or are an obvious derivation (or a good enough guess that it could be a derivation).
A quick reading of your post in the other thread gave the impression that you wanted people to ignore that NDA. You might want to add a disclaimer that no LR Games originated material or anything derived from it should be posted. Covers everyone's butts, ya know! |
So is the stuff from the preview packet covered under the NDA or what? It seems like that couldnt really be covered by a nondisclosure agreement considering the entire internet has access to it... Are we allowed to atleast talk about that? _________________ "He who hesitates, meditates horizontally." - Ed Parker |

As far as I know, a non-disclosure "agree"ment is something you have to "agree" to. Which is something the contest winners explicitly did, and the demo-pack DLers didn't. I also don't see anything about non-disclosure printed in the demo-pack (just the normal Open Gaming License statements) _________________ http://www.sfrpg.com

Exactly, that's why the demo packet went out, now if I can just find the info on the Mystic and Abomination I'd be happy, I can create manuevers from the BESM d20 SRD... _________________ Someone you know, knows something they shouldn't. |

My goal in the other thread i started was to have the fans here colaborate and create our own material to fill in the blanks left by the preview packet. Just as Matt said, i dont see how the preview packet could be covered in a NDA since its freely accessable by anyone on the internet without any sort of legal agreement.
I'd like to have a little input from The Emperor or someone else from LRG so we can verify the legality of this however before people start posting ideas for game mechanics. It seems to my like theoretically we SHOULD be able to post our own ideas for special moves, feats, occupations etc...as long as they're original and not taken from the chapters given out to the contest winners. _________________ "He who hesitates, meditates horizontally." - Ed Parker |

BTW, didnt they actually run an honest to god tournament for this at a convention?
I seriously doubt the participants of that signed a NDA, (tho I could be wrong) you may want to contact them for input. _________________ http://www.sfrpg.com

That possibility did cross my mind, but I didn't give it much consideration.
If I had millions of bucks, I'd happily offer what's needed to push the book along -- yes, I want to know Zangief's stats that much -- but since that doesn't look probable any time soon, other options have to be considered. Breaking and entering is rather rude, though. Any other suggestions?
There's no way of knowing what sort of effort it would require to gather such funds, since nobody's given us an estimate yet. But if we're lucky, perhaps some rich SF fan has already gotten the ball rolling. |

In regards to the discussion about piecing together the rest of the rules based on stuff from the preview packet, I am going to have to disallow that. This is in order to protect our current relationship with Capcom and to ensure that we still have something to come back to at a future date when all is well again. It's not that I don't want you guys to talk about it and discuss ideas, but any sort of organized attempt to compile everything into a coherent document would jeopardize any sort of official product in the future.
As for the cost to produce the product, well... I can't give out an exact figure, but I can tell you that you could probably buy a rather nice mid-size sedan with the money. :P _________________ Joe Chan

As soon as it's done. :) I'll check to see if there's a more exact ETA. _________________ Joe Chan

Hm, as an unemployed person whose elderly mother watches The Price is Right every weekday... That's somewhere between $15K and $30K depending on make, model, and options... probably closer to $30K given the adjectives "rather nice" and "mid-size."
You wouldn't have to win too big a prize on the lottery to finance that! _________________ Angelita

So 30 of us have to make $1000 . . .
Or get 10 Friends to chip in $100 . . .
Or get 10 Friends to get 10 friends to chip in $10 . . .
Either way, it looks glum. _________________ The one and only true Mr. Wonx

Well, I suppose I could put up five grand. Is there even a method by which LRG can sell -- for lack of a better term -- "shares" of the project? I'd be happy to invest if I can expect to get a profit out of it in the long run.
