Capcom has made it explicitly clear to us that the material central to the game may not be released in any form at this time. However, the stuff that was taken directly from the d20 SRD is already freely available.

I don't understand what that means (english isn't my native language, and i'm not telling the joke about baby talk being my native language)
Does that mean that you can't publish the game mechanics you created (such as maneuver creation) or does that mean you can't publish the capcom-related stuff?
In other words, is there still a chance of seeing the full game mechanics without any capcom reference?

Releasing anything relating to Capcom is a definite no-go. Any d20 stuff that was pulled from the System Resource Document is already freely available. Any of the system mechanics that we created is still subject to discussion, but in an effort to not step on any toes, that material will not be made available in the immediate future. I'll see what I can negotiate though.

Well when that indefinite hold is finally lifted I still hope to be one of the first to apply for my copy. Even if it's the price of one copy I hope to do my part. I will wait for this little somethin' on the side you plan on tossin' out to us hangers-on. NDA safely tucked away and secured, I still support and laud all your efforts, sir.

Thanks for everything and maybe I'll see ya's at AnimeBoston this year.

So, essentially, we're utterly screwed. Man, I've had my campaign development on hold for so long. Guess I'll go back to figuring out which I can best use: Mutants & Masterminds or BESM... Crying or Very sad

I wouldn't say utterly, my friend, a glimmer of hope still means the same. (Yeah, I'm a thickheaded gypsy die-hard) I think BESM may be your better bet tho', more tailoring available IMHO. I'd be glad to brainstorm with you off-list...I use BESM attributes in all my d20 games from Dragonstar to D&D and everything else in between, (never liked the d20 Modern pigeonholing) I may even use it in Ptolus possibly when it comes out...

I really can't say that I am surprised at all. While I had given up on ever seeing this game a while back, when I said "I'll beleive it when I see it", I was hoping deep down inside that Living Room Games was going to prove me wrong..... I'm not surprised, but I am dissapointed.

Hmmm, possibly the generic manuever creation process without mentioning any of the specific moves created by {Company-not-to-be-mentioned-further} might fly. Plus maybe what the special addons were for Mystic and Abomination since those weren't in the early packet. I already have all the SRDs released from everyone so that's not a problem. I wish you luck in negotiating with {Company-not-to-be-mentioned-further}.

Ok, so let's say I win the lottery. (Yeah, right.) How much money would I have to pump into this company to get CWT out the door and on the store shelves? (Don't get your hopes up -- I don't even buy tickets. Wink)

Akahige, you'd probably have to pay for the entire press run, since Joe said even a 40% presale wouldn't be enough financially.

Kongou, please be a bit discrete about what you post. If you stray too far over the line, Joe will have to shut down your thread. This means no use of material covered by NDA or encouraging the possessors of such material to "share" it. Maybe that's not what you intend, but that's what it reads like to me.

I guess im not too clear on what we can talk about. I realize that LRG cant put out anything specifically related to Capcom licensed properties but i figured the combat system itself would be an safe topic of discusion especially since what i was proposing was making a fan-made version based off of what little we've seen of the game.

Maybe im too used to how the boards are run over at the wizards site regarding d20 and D&D. There people make up feats, cambat styles, classes and all kinds of rules. If we're not allowed to do that here im sorry i proposed it.

Material that's completely fan created is fine.

The LR Games material covered by NDA is strictly off limits, and Joe is probably legally required to delete any posts that reveal part of that material or are an obvious derivation (or a good enough guess that it could be a derivation).

A quick reading of your post in the other thread gave the impression that you wanted people to ignore that NDA. You might want to add a disclaimer that no LR Games originated material or anything derived from it should be posted. Covers everyone's butts, ya know!

Anybody have an estimate on what an entire press run would cost? $10k, $100k, $1M?

Lol, maybe we should all go buy lottery tickets, with the proviso that we help finance LR Games!

I have no idea. It would be dependant on print quality, color, # of pages, hardcover vs soft, etc, etc, etc. and I don't think Joe would likely disclose a dollar sign value.

were you thinking of taking up donations or something?
